Rating and ranks

Start at Pub Team, climb to Legend. Glicko-2 works out your real level in about ten matches, and it goes down as well as up.

Why not points
A score that only goes up measures how much time you have spent, not how much you know. A rating goes down, which is what makes it worth quoting.
Until yours settles you are not on the ladder — ranking an estimate against a measurement would make the table meaningless.
The ladder
1642 means nothing until you know what it is near. Every rating sits in a band, from where you start at 1000 to the top at 3500.
There is one more below the one you start in. You only meet Sunday League by losing your way into it, which is the point of a rating that can go down.

For the things that took something: your first win, your fiftieth, a rating that settled, and every rank from Academy up.
