Terms of Service

Last updated 7 October 2026

Who you are contracting with

Ball Knowledge is operated by Ryan Rudolph. Notices under these terms, and anything you want a written answer to, should go to support@ballknowledge.football. If you are signed in, the feedback form reaches the same place and carries the page you were on, which usually saves a round trip.

Accounts

You need an account to play, and you are responsible for keeping your password secure. One person, one account — running several accounts to inflate a rating is the clearest possible breach of these terms.

You must be at least 13 to hold an account. You can stop using the service at any time; account deletion is not yet self-service, so until it is, ask at the address above and we will do it by hand. The privacy policy sets out what is erased and what is anonymised, and why the two are different.

Fair play

Ball Knowledge is a rated competitive game, so the rating has to mean something. Any of the following will result in a reset rating or a closed account:

  • Using automated tools to answer questions.
  • Colluding with an opponent to fix a result.
  • Deliberately losing to lower your rating before a match.
  • Attempting to obtain answers other than by playing.

For what it is worth, the last one is designed against rather than merely prohibited: answers are graded on the server and never sent to your browser.

If we close or reset an account we will say which of the above it was, and you can dispute it at the address above. We would rather be shown we were wrong than be right by default.

Content

Questions are written by us and cite public sources. If you believe a question is factually wrong, tell us — we would rather fix it than defend it. Corrected questions are re-verified against a source before returning to play.

The player data behind the puzzles is drawn from public records. Club, competition and player names are used descriptively to state matters of public record; no club, league or governing body has endorsed this game or is associated with it.

Availability

We make no promise of uninterrupted service. Matches interrupted by an outage on our side will not count towards your rating where we can identify them.

Paid subscriptions

There is nothing to buy. Every feature is available to every account, no payment is taken, and there is no checkout to reach — the subscription machinery exists in the code but is switched off, and while it is off nobody can be charged.

A paid tier is intended. Before a single payment is accepted, this section will be replaced with real subscription terms covering the price, the renewal date, how to cancel, and the statutory 14-day cancellation right that UK and EU customers have for digital content. That is a promise about sequence: the terms go up first, the till opens second.

Your rights as a consumer

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law. In the UK that includes your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and in the EU the equivalent national implementations. Where a term here conflicts with a right you cannot sign away, the right wins and the term does not apply.

Liability

This is a quiz. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for the loss of a rating.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and may bring proceedings there.

Changes

These terms will change before launch. Material changes will be announced in the product rather than quietly edited into this page, and the date at the top of this page always says when it last moved.
